Richard is a full time Professor at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. His students have gone on to orchestral jobs, fellowships and doctoral programs around the country. Students enjoy success in competitions at the national and international level such as the Big 12 Conference and the International Trombone Association.

RMBI is an intensive, week-long educational experience for serious college and High School level players. The institute includes: career seminars, master classes, chamber ensemble coachings, competitions, and incredible faculty recitals and concerts. RMBI is led by some of the finest brass musicians in the world - the members of Summit Brass. The Trombone faculty includes: Scott Hartman, Yale University. Carl Lenthe Indiana University. Brad Edwards, Arizona State University. John Lofton, Los Angeles Philharmonic. Plus myself!

In the California mountains outside of Los Angeles is the Idyllwild Arts Academy. This two week summer program of chamber music and orchestral playing for talented High School students is a great way for  serious players aged between 13 & 18 to get a sense of the standards and expectations of a college level music career. The location is idyllic and these young musicians form friendships that last a lifetime. Please click here for more information and scholarships are available.

FESTIVAL of
TROMBONE
& CULTURE

Aug 1 -7 2022 will see the inaugural International Udine Trombone Festival. The faculty will include myself, Chris Houlding Professor of Trombone and Brass Ensemble at the Folkwang University of Arts, Essen, Germany and Visiting Tutor at London's Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Mark Hampson, Bass Trombone of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra & the Lucerne Festival Orchestra. Rocco Rescigno, Principal Trombone of the Duisburg Philharmonic.
