2019/2020
FILM SESSIONS
This season started in the summer with some fun film sessions at home in New York City, recording at the Dimenna Center for Classical Music on West 37th Street. Among the projects were Will Smith's new movie 'Gemini Man' and the much anticipated 'Joker' starring Joaquin Phoenix, who is slated to be in the running for an Oscar for his portrayal as the Joker.
To the right - my view during the recording of 'The Joker.' Note that the in the top right corner it looks like the part is for a movie called 'Romeo.'
Most Hollywood movies go by a different name—also known as a working title—until the film is released in theaters. These cinematic pseudonyms can be used to hide a film’s production from rampant fans or to keep costs low. The title of the track however is 'Meeting Bruce Wayne' which rather gives the game away!
FALL METROPOLITAN OPERA PERFORMANCES
I'm very proud to be playing with the Metropolitan Opera this fall in the productions of Turandot, Magic Flute and left is a picture of the trombone section after the opening night of Macbeth. (Left to right) Demian Austin, myself and Dr. Denson Paul Pollard.
UK TOUR
In the fall I will be continuing my great relationship with the University of Texas El Paso as a guest artist on a tour of the UK. The Trombone Choir will join forces with the UTEP Vocal Chamber Choir for a series of concerts in Cathedrals in the North of England. We will also be performing outreach concerts and events at schools and in local communities.
I will have the pleasure of helping coach the Trombone Choir, lead warm ups every day and teach masterclasses and lessons
JOYE IN AIKEN with DECODA
In the spring of 2020 I will be leading a project with my chamber group 'Decoda.' We will be appearing at the renowned chamber music festival 'Joye in Aiken' for concerts, masterclasses and outreach.
We will be joined by guest artist and trumpet player 'Riley Mulherkar' for programs that will include Wynton Marsalis's 'Fiddler's Tale' along with several of my own arrangements.
